Thomas Albert murderer and ex-boyfriend of Candance Prunty has been indicted for murder after new evidence, and forensic technology were used to solve the case.

In 2015, the peaceful town of Springfield, Ohio, was rocked by the brutal murder of Candance Prunty, a 26-year-old mother of three young boys. 

Prunty’s family became concerned when she failed to pick up her children from school, prompting them to visit her home. 

They discovered her lifeless body on the kitchen floor, riddled with six gunshot wounds, including one to the neck and head, caused by a .38-caliber gun.

Despite the best efforts of the local police department, the investigation into Prunty’s murder hit a dead end until 2021, when new evidence and advanced forensic technology were employed to help crack the case.

The breakthrough came when the Oxygen TV show “Cold Justice,” took an interest in the case and sent its seasoned prosecutor, Kelly Siegler, and investigator, Tonya Rider, to Springfield to work alongside local detectives Ronald W. Jordan and Dan Dewine. 

They uncovered new evidence, including the fact that Prunty’s home had been vandalized on four separate occasions in July 2015, indicating that the attack was not random.

Further investigation revealed that Thomas Albert murderer and ex-boyfriend of Prunty had a motive for the crime. 

Albert had refused to speak to investigators without an attorney, and his residence was found to contain a pack of .38 caliber ammo with six rounds missing, similar to the gun used in the murder. 

Additionally, Prunty’s cell phone data and text messages revealed that she had broken up with Albert and was planning to move to Atlanta to be with the father of her children, Isahia Elliott.

Albert was aware of Prunty’s plans, and when he learned of them, he showed up at her sister’s house three days before the murder, hoping to win her back. 

When his attempts were rebuffed, detectives noted that he did not take it well.

Advanced forensic technology, including cell phone data analysis, provided crucial evidence linking Albert to the murder. 

Experts found that Albert’s phone was in close proximity to Prunty’s home when the vandalism occurred and again at her sister’s house on the morning of the murder. 

They also discovered that Prunty’s phone was in the vicinity of Albert’s home an hour after she was killed.

Detective Jordan presented the evidence to Clark County Prosecutor Dan Driscoll, who felt that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with an indictment. 

On August 30, 2021, Thomas Albert murderer, was indicted for Prunty’s murder and eight other related charges. If found guilty, he could face life imprisonment.
