Emma Hernan and Micah McDonald, her client on Selling Sunset, hit it off almost instantly during the fifth season of Netflix’s real estate reality series. Filming wrapped up but their romance didn’t blossom much further.
Micah McDonald asked Emma Hernan out on a date during a meeting when they were set to discuss a listing she was managing for him. It wasn’t strictly business though, because romance began to grow after their first outing.
Emma confirmed that she and Micah were still enjoying each other’s company after filming concluded. Long distance was a slight issue, but it wouldn’t have been the first time a cast member on the show had a beau live further away.
Sadly for Micah and Emma shippers, the Selling Sunset star later revealed her single status.
Emma Hernan and Micah’s Selling Sunset love story
The pair ah hit it off when she took on a listing that he was developing for work. During episode 3, Emma describes Micah as “eye candy” and added that she “never flirts with clients, but it’s hard not to flirt with Micah“.
It wasn’t long before Micah asked the realtor out on a date, and their final Netflix scene saw them cozying up in a hot tub. During the show, Micah took Emma to his mezcal bar, before she described him as “attractive, successful, and confident“.
Speaking of the house he built in Beverly Hills, Micah said it was nothing like how he grew up and that he’s one of eight children. Emma helped manage the property at The Oppenheim Group for Micah – talk about mixing business with pleasure!
Emma Hernan confirmed their romance didn’t last
Emma revealed in April 2022 that they didn’t have a label to their romance, but admitted they had “something special”.
It was a long-distance affair since the realtor jetted back and forth between Boston and Los Angeles for her frozen food business, Emma Leigh & Co, but she remained hopeful.
“I’ve done the long-distance thing for so long that it would be nice to have a relationship where they’re in the same, at least, state,” she explained. “Obviously, it’s progressed a little bit [from where season 5 ends]. We’ve become closer. But it’s right about there. So, we’ll see. Maybe season 6, there will be a label, a ring. Who knows?”
By the season 5 reunion, however, Hernan confirmed she wasn’t taken. “I’m enjoying life,” she said. “Whether it be with a new person I’m dating, whether it’s Micah, whether it’s my ex, I’m single.”
Talking about the property developer and bar owner, Emma said, “We had a very flirty connection,” before adding, “He’s a good friend.”
Their relationship was the second Selling Sunset romance after Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim dated until 2021. After their break-up, rumors questioned whether Chrishell and Jason’s love was real; they both confirmed it was not played up for the camera.
Emma previously spilled that she matched with Ben Affleck on the celebrity dating app, Raya, before he reunited with Jennifer Lopez. Affleck’s representatives denied Emma’s Raya claims, stating that he had been inactive for years.
If fans didn’t think the pair were cute enough, “Emma’s Empanadas” were featured on the menu for Micah’s new restaurant Sagrado Mezcaleria + Kitchen. It came after she brought her own pastries to their meet-up on the show.
For $11, customers could buy the dish at the Selling Sunset client’s eatery, which involves five mini “Beyond Meat” empanadas with shaved cabbage, arbol tomatillo salsa, radish, and cilantro.
It’s unknown if the item is still on the menu since his restaurant website is not accessible at the time of writing.
The client heavily promoted his bar on the series, which some fans assumed was the reason for his season 5 appearance. However, the duo proved those viewers wrong with their continued romance away from cameras!
