American banker John Molner and Katie Couric detoured in life before finding love in each other's arms.

The duo married and stayed in a relationship with different people prior to knowing one another. But as if fate had wanted, they met later in life and became inseparable. 

They met when their mutual friend named Molly set the two in 2012, and the financier's "hello" alone was enough to impress Couric. Their swift-blossoming friendship escalated, and the duo started dating — making their first public appearance as a couple at the Ellen Hermanson Breast Cancer Benefit on July 28, 2012.

Within a year, Molner proposed to his girlfriend with a diamond ring on the beach in East Hampton, N.Y. And with a happy "yes", the duo got engaged on September 2, 2013.

The lovebirds wasted no time on their wedding. They married a year later on June 21, 2014, in the backyard of Katie's house in East Hampton, New York.

Interestingly, both their children from previous marriage attended the wedding and supported their parents.

Before tying the wedding knots with one another, John and his now-wife had already married once and had children with their first spouse. 

John was married to Jane Franke, an English teacher at Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island. From the marriage with his ex-wife, he has two kids: a daughter named Allie Molner, and a son named Henry Molner. 

Likewise, Couric was married to Jay Monahan. Since tying the knots in 1989, they welcomed two kids: two daughters. Their nine-year-long marriage ended after Jay died because of colon cancer in 1998. 

After their first marriage, both Molner and Couric dated different people.

Molner was in a relationship with a lady named Jessica Hsu. The duo's relationship ended on bad terms as the financier broke up with her after starting his relationship with Couric in 2012. Hsu alleged him of infidelity, saying he had planned to buy her an apartment. However, Molner defended himself by maintaining she was too young for him. 

Likewise, Couric also dated a younger man, 17 years her junior, Brooks Perlin in 2006. They ended their long-term relationship in December 2011.

Molner Relishes Family Time and Marriage

The Chicago native relishes his marriage with his wife by traveling to various places with her and maintaining a close relationship with his stepchildren.

Not only that, but he also takes part in various professional stints with his partner. For instance, the pair started their web cooking series, Plate with Katie & John in 2016 and showcased their cooking skills alongside Sur La Table chef, Joel Gamoran.

Also, they founded a media/news company named Katie Couric Media in 2017.
