TRASHING an entire room is normally a sign that you’ve lost control - and results in guilt, tears and hours of tidying up.

But one woman has revealed how letting loose with a baseball bat for an hour left her walking on cloud nine and buzzing with happiness.

Christina Parapadakis, a content creator from London, went on her rampage at a ‘rage room’, a venue where you pay for an hour to quite literally wreck the joint.

The 27-year-old used a baseball bat to smash an old printer, before swinging the wrecked gadget against a wall.

She told her followers on her @fashionablyadhd Instagram that the experience was especially thrilling because she has ADHD.

“For someone who has spent a list of time masking, letting loose like this in a room with no rules was so freeing,” she said. “The endorphins and dopamine had me buzzzzzing.”

Rage rooms - also known as smash rooms and anger rooms - are popping up all over the UK after originating in Japan around 15 years ago.

They are rented out on an hourly basis to people who want to vent their negative feelings in a physical way, by destroying objects using baseball bats, scaffolding poles or golf clubs.

They often include living room or kitchen replicas, as well as electrical items like TVs and desks.

Some places even allow people to bring in their own possessions to smash up, like a photo of an ex-partner.

The rooms are not just a way of managing anger but can also relieve stress and pent up emotions.

Statistics show that they are mostly used by women, with the Manchester Evening News reporting that divorcees are behind the boom.

Gemma Whiddett, manager of Rage Rooms Norwich, in Norfolk, which costs £50 per person for an hour or £120 for four, told the paper: “I can see it growing. We’re ten times busier than when we opened - we get a lot of returning customers.

“Women getting divorced bring friends to smash things up and bitch about their partners. 

“Therapists recommend us to recovering addicts and people having a hard time at work.

"We had someone come in whose partner had been murdered. I think men have outlets - they can play football, golf, or go to the pub. Women don't always have an aggressive outlet.

"Talking is all well and good but sometimes you just need to get it out.

"Some people will book a single slot by themselves and others come with a group.

“They are always so happy when they leave.”

The venue offers ‘smashers’ protective clothing and a soundtrack of their choice, with the debris cleared away and recycled afterwards.
