Hugh Preston Pierce, 52, actor/screenwriter/record producer died Dec. 12, in his sleep of a heart attack at his home in Sherman Oaks.

Pierce began his career as a ’50s teen TV star on shows like “The Ted Davis Show” and “The Jeannie Baird Variety Show.”

He received a scholarship to the Pasadena Playhouse and moved to L.A. in 1960 , where he had a contract with Paramount Pictures and starred in A.C. Lyles’ film “Young Fury.” He appeared in 16 other features and guested in more than 35 TV episodes including “Gunsmoke,””Bonanza” and “I Spy.”

He also produced records for the likes of Dorsey Burnette and Jimmy Bowen. Most recently, he was in pre-production as an independent producer on the film “Sons of Dust,” based on his screenplay.

Pierce is survived by his wife of 29 years, Judy, daughter Shannon and brother Bill Pierce. A memorial service was held Dec. 15. The family suggests donations be made in his name to Ayres of God Ministries.
