Though Ruiz signed a million dollars contract with Gent in a four-year deal, he waved off the club in 2009. On July 15, 2009, Bryan Ruiz joined Dutch club FC Twente on a 4-year deal on $6.95 million fees but played for 2 seasons till 2011.

Bryan Ruiz made his move on a multi-year deal to the Premier League club Fulham on August 31, 2011, reporting a transfer fee of $13.35 million. He became the highest paid athlete in Costa Rica as of 2011 with his annual salary of $1.72 million in the club.

While in contract with Fulham, Ruiz also played on a loan transfer for PSV Eindhoven from January 15, 2014, to June 30, that year. The loan fee was reported to be £900,000. Then at the beginning of 2015 season, Ruiz signed with Sporting CP.

Besides being a footballer, Bryan is also a lovely husband of his longtime girlfriend Carolina Jaikel. The couple got engaged on May 26, 2013, and it was a year later, the lovers got married.

The wedding took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Costa Rica on May 24, 2014, just a month before making his 2nd FIFA World Cup appearance.
