Beloved Youth Football Coach Brent Maxwell Dies at Age 43

The Magnolia Youth Football Association is mourning the devastating loss of one of their most dedicated coaches and mentors, 43-year-old Brent Maxwell, who tragically passed away on Monday, December 4th. Maxwell leaves behind his beloved wife and three young daughters, as well as the countless children's lives he impacted through his unwavering commitment to fostering their athletic dreams and personal growth.

A Standout Student and Athlete From Louisiana

A native of Monroe, Louisiana, Brent Maxwell demonstrated excellence both academically and athletically from a young age. He attended Hargrave High School, where he starred on the football team as a standout linebacker, using his athleticism, discipline, and leadership to motivate his teammates. After graduating in 2003, Maxwell enrolled at Northwestern State University on a football scholarship, pursuing a degree in civil engineering while continuing to excel on the field.

Upon earning his civil engineering degree in 2004, Maxwell embarked on an accomplished 15-year career in the construction industry, leveraging his education and work ethic to take on key estimator, surveyor, and project management roles at leading Texas firms like Levco Construction, Slack & Co. Contracting, and Jordan Concrete Inc. All the while, he stayed deeply connected to the game he loved by volunteering as a youth football coach.

Beloved Coach Who Put Community First

When he wasn't overseeing major construction initiatives, Maxwell selflessly devoted countless hours to coaching youth athletes in the Magnolia community and inspiring kids to be responsible, motivated students and citizens. As a MYFA coach for over five seasons, Maxwell used his engineering background to break down complicated plays and techniques in ways his young players could easily understand. His compassionate, patient style built up their confidence both on and off the field.

“More than a coach, Brent was a father figure and role model to every player,” said fellow MYFA coach Tyler Nelson. “He made sure they knew grades came first and that success came from hard work and integrity. His legacy lives on in these boys.”

 A Devoted Family Man Gone Too Soon

While the Magnolia community celebrates Brent Maxwell's immeasurable impact, they also grieve with his surviving wife Katie and their three daughters, aged 10, 8 and 5. By all accounts, Maxwell was a family man first - coaching his daughters' soccer teams, leading Scout troops, and never missing dance recitals and school events for work.
