Richard Childress, the creator and owner of Richard Childress Racing (RCR), a NASCAR Cup Series team, is the great-grandfather of Austin Dillon, an American professional stock car racer.
At the age of seven, Dillon started racing on a dirt track. He made his NASCAR debut in the Camping World Truck Series in 2009, and in 2010 at Iowa Speedway, he won his first race in the division.
Austin advanced to the Cup Series and Xfinity Series in 2011, and at Kentucky Speedway in 2012, he won his first race in those series.
He won the series championship in 2013 and drove the No. 3 car for RCR in the Cup Series in 2014.
Dillon is well-known for his charitable endeavors in addition to his racing career, notably his involvement with the Childress Institute for Pediatric Trauma.
